Astrid Brandt

Sugar Mice, Wire, Light and Lines

Astrid Brandt was born in Germany (Braunschweig). After developing as a visual merchandiser she studied professional graphic design at the Fachhochschule Hildesheim. It is merely possible to define the method of expression of the artist, because she mastered a variety of techniques: watercolour painting, acrylic on canvas, etchings, photography, computer graphics and installations.

She has worked as an art director in a corporate group from 1984 to 1996. In 1999 she founded her own agency for graphics and design. She is a member of artist groups «Kultur findet Stadt», «NeunRaumKunst» and «KufA» (culture for all). The special attention of her works is on the constant change of her expression method and different subject area. Since 1982 she preferes the socially critical subject.

The artist succeeded in using profane sugar mice and mousetraps to create a humorous scenario with clear structures and connections.

Astrid Brandt sees in the collapse of our society the chance to create a new world.
